About This Journey
Trimbakeshwar Temple stands at the foot of Brahmagiri hill in Nashik district, Maharashtra, near the source of the Godavari. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The linga here is unusual. It sits in a hollow holding three small lingas, read as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The black basalt temple was rebuilt in the 18th century under the Peshwa Balaji Bajirao. This Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga darshan package starts at Mumbai airport, about 175 km and four hours away. Day 1 is the drive and evening darshan. Day 2 covers Kushavarta Kund, where tradition places the Godavari's origin, and Anjaneri hill, linked to Hanuman's birth. The temple is also known for the Narayan Nagbali and Kaal Sarp rituals, booked with local priests. Mondays and Shravan bring the longest queues.
