About This Journey
Somnath Temple stands on the shore of the Arabian Sea at Prabhas Patan, near Veraval in Gujarat. Hindu tradition counts it first among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The present Chalukya-style temple was completed in 1951. Its spire faces open sea, and the Baan Stambh in the courtyard marks an unbroken sea route to the South Pole. This Somnath Jyotirlinga darshan package gives you two days and one night. Day 1 covers darshan, the evening aarti and the sound and light show on the temple's history. Day 2 takes in the Triveni Sangam, Bhalka Tirth and the Gita Mandir. Phones and cameras must be deposited before entry. Diu airport is about 85 km away.
