About This Journey
The Godavari Tir Shakti Peeth is commonly identified with the Kotilingeshwar temple on the Godavari at Rajahmundry (Rajamahendravaram), Andhra Pradesh. Tradition holds that Sati's left cheek fell here. The goddess is Vishweshi, also called Rakini, with Dandapani as her Bhairava. The riverbank below is Kotilingala Ghat. It is one of the main bathing ghats during the Godavari Pushkaram, held every 12 years. This two-day journey starts at Rajahmundry airport, about 18 km away. Day 1 is darshan at the ghat and an evening by the river, which is several kilometres wide here. Day 2 covers Draksharamam, about 45 km away, where Manikyamba is worshipped beside Bhimeswara Swamy. It is counted among the eighteen Maha Shakti Peethas. Summer here is very hot.
Day-by-day sacred itinerary will be customized to your darshan schedule and arrival timings.
