About This Temple
The Godavari Tir Shakti Peeth is commonly identified with the Kotilingeshwar temple on the Godavari at Rajahmundry (Rajamahendravaram), Andhra Pradesh. Tradition holds that Sati's left cheek fell here. The goddess is Vishweshi, also called Rakini, with Dandapani as her Bhairava. The riverbank below is Kotilingala Ghat. It is one of the main bathing ghats during the Godavari Pushkaram, held every 12 years.
