About This Journey
Devi Talab Mandir stands beside a large tank in the centre of Jalandhar, Punjab. Tradition holds that Sati's left breast fell here. The goddess is Tripurmalini, with Bhishan as her Bhairava. The present gold-domed structure is modern. A replica of the Amarnath cave stands inside the complex. Each December the Devi Talab Shakti Peeth hosts the Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan, one of India's oldest classical music festivals. This two-day journey starts at Amritsar airport, about 90 km away. Adampur airport is closer but has fewer flights. Day 1 is darshan and the evening aarti. Day 2 takes you to the Golden Temple in Amritsar before your flight. Jalandhar City station is about 2 km from the temple. Navratri is the busiest time.
