About This Journey

Mangal Chandika Temple stands at Kogram, on the Ajay river near Guskara, in Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal. This is the Ujani pitha of the Tantra lists, where Sati's right wrist is said to have fallen. The goddess is Mangal Chandika, with Kapilambar as her Bhairava. The Mangal Chandika Shakti Peeth is sometimes confused with Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh because of the name. The village is small. Kogram is also the birthplace of the Bengali poet Kumudranjan Mallick. This two-day journey starts at Kolkata airport, about 170 km and four and a half hours away. Durgapur airport, about 70 km away, is closer but has fewer flights. Day 1 is the drive and darshan, with the night in Bolpur (Shantiniketan). Day 2 covers Kankalitala near Bolpur before the drive back.

Day-by-day sacred itinerary will be customized to your darshan schedule and arrival timings.
