About This Journey
Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple stands above the Ganga in the old city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Hindu tradition holds that Shiva himself grants moksha to those who die in Kashi. The present temple was built in 1780 by Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore. Maharaja Ranjit Singh later gave the gold that plates its spire. Since 2021 a corridor has linked it to the ghats. This Kashi Vishwanath darshan package gives you two days and one night. Day 1 covers darshan and the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Day 2 can start with the Mangala Aarti before dawn, which needs an advance ticket. Kaal Bhairav and Annapurna temples follow. Phones, bags and footwear go into lockers first. Varanasi Junction is about 5 km away.
