About This Journey
Grishneshwar Temple stands at Verul, about 1 km from the Ellora Caves, in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) district, Maharashtra. It is counted as the last of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The red basalt temple was rebuilt in the 18th century by Ahilyabai Holkar. Its walls carry carvings of Vishnu's avatars. Men remove their shirts before entering the sanctum.
