About This Journey
The Tristota pitha is identified with the Bhramari Devi temple at Boda, near Jalpaiguri in north Bengal, on the plains of the Teesta. Tristota is an old name for the Teesta. Tradition holds that Sati's left leg fell here. The goddess is Bhramari, with Ambar as her Bhairava. The shrine sits among paddy fields and tea gardens, with the Himalayan foothills to the north. This two-day journey starts at Bagdogra airport, about 60 km away. Day 1 is darshan at the Bhramari Devi Shakti Peeth and an evening in Jalpaiguri. Day 2 can take you into the Dooars around Gorumara National Park, home to the one-horned rhino, before the drive back to Bagdogra. The Teesta floods in the monsoon. Come between October and March.
