- Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh
About This Temple
The Prayag Shakti Peeth, where tradition says Sati's fingers fell, is identified with the Alopi Devi temple at Alopibagh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. It is about 3 km from the Triveni Sangam. There is no idol. Devotees worship a wooden palanquin, or doli, as the sign that the goddess vanished here, which is what Alopi means. The Lalita Devi temple in Meerapur also claims the pitha. The Tantra lists name the goddess Lalita, with Bhava as her Bhairava.
