Manas Shakti Peeth, Tibet: Location and How to Reach
Dedicated to Goddess Dakshayani
- Lake Manasarovar, China (Tibet)
About This Temple
The Manas Shakti Peeth, where tradition says Sati's right hand fell, is placed at Lake Manasarovar, below Mount Kailash in the Ngari region of Tibet. The goddess is Dakshayani, with Amar as her Bhairava. The site is marked by a stone shrine near the lake. Manasarovar sits at about 4,590 m. The air is thin and cold. The parikrama around Mount Kailash covers about 52 km. Indian citizens have two routes. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, run by India's Ministry of External Affairs in summer, crosses via Lipulekh Pass or Nathu La. Places are allotted by computerised draw. Private tours go through Nepal. Either way the trip takes about two to three weeks. It needs a medical clearance and good fitness at high altitude.
Day-by-day sacred itinerary will be customized to your darshan schedule and arrival timings.
