Kanyakumari Shakti Peeth
Dedicated to Goddess Sarvani (Kanya Kumari)
- Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu
About This Temple
Kanyakumari Bhagavathy Amman Temple stands at the southern tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet. Tradition holds that Sati's back fell here. The Kanyakumari Shakti Peeth appears in the Tantra lists as Kanyashram, with the goddess as Sarvani and Nimish as her Bhairava. Here she is worshipped as a young virgin, waiting to marry Shiva. Her diamond nose ring is said to have once been mistaken for a lighthouse. So the sea-facing eastern door stays shut except on a few days a year.
Day-by-day sacred itinerary will be customized to your darshan schedule and arrival timings.
