Dedicated to Goddess Mahishamardini
- Near Karachi, Pakistan
About This Temple
Karavipur Shakti Peeth appears in the Tantra lists as the place where Sati's eyes fell, with the goddess as Mahishamardini and Krodhish as her Bhairava. Tradition places it near Karachi in Sindh, Pakistan, at a site called Shivaharkaray. No temple there is firmly identified with it today. Scholars who have studied the pitha lists treat its location as uncertain. A visit would need a Pakistani visa, which is rarely issued for this purpose. If the eye as a sacred site draws you, Naina Devi in Himachal Pradesh is linked with Sati's eyes in a separate tradition. It stands on a hilltop in Bilaspur district, reached by road and ropeway. Chandigarh airport is about 100 km away.
Day-by-day sacred itinerary will be customized to your darshan schedule and arrival timings.
