About This Temple

The Prabhas Shakti Peeth stands at Prabhas Patan near Veraval, Gujarat. It is close to the Triveni Sangam, where the Hiran, Kapila and Saraswati rivers meet the sea. Tradition holds that Sati's stomach fell here. The goddess is Chandrabhaga, with Vakratunda as her Bhairava. Prabhas is also home to Somnath, the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Most pilgrims visit both on the same day. The Prabhas Patan Museum holds carved stones from earlier Somnath temples.
