About This Temple

The Sugandha Shakti Peeth stands at Shikarpur, about 20 km from Barisal town in southern Bangladesh, near the Sunanda river. Tradition holds that Sati's nose fell here, and the name means fragrance. The goddess is Sunanda, with Tryambak as her Bhairava. The temple sits in a village among the rivers of the Barisal delta. Indian pilgrims need a Bangladesh visa. From Kolkata, the usual route is the Petrapole-Benapole land border, then on to Barisal by road. Many travellers take the overnight river launch from Dhaka instead. Barisal also has an airport with flights from Dhaka. Allow three to four days in all. Check visa rules and local conditions before you plan.

Day-by-day sacred itinerary will be customized to your darshan schedule and arrival timings.
