Umananda Temple

Umananda Temple is located on Umananda Island in the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Assam. The island is also called Peacock Island.

The temple can be reached by boat from Guwahati. Visitors usually take a ferry or private boat from one of the riverfront points in the city. The boat ride is short and gives a nice view of the Brahmaputra River.

The present temple was built in 1694 during the rule of Ahom King Gadadhar Singha. The temple was built over an older stone structure.
