About This Temple

Devi Doul is a royal Ahom temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, standing on the banks of Sivasagar Lake next to Siva Doul and Vishnu Doul. Constructed in 1734 AD under the royal order of Queen Ambika, the temple was built to serve as the royal family's venue for Shakti worship. Though smaller in height than the neighboring Siva Doul, its spire displays refined Ahom brick carving work. Annual Sharad Navratri Durga Puja here is conducted with traditional royal rituals that have been maintained for nearly three centuries.
